Delve deep into the minds of shoppers through technology.

VideoMining (VM) helps retailers and CPG manufacturers optimize retail performance and shopper experience by decoding in-store behavior using anonymous sensing and AI.

VM traces its roots to research conducted at Penn State University with funding from the U.S. Government‘s Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration (DARPA). The company became an early pioneer in the development of computer vision and its applications for surveillance and counterintelligence. VM received more than $40 million in funding, and as the team developed a core set of capabilities and a significant patent portfolio, they eventually broke off to form a new enterprise to explore ways of commercializing their technology in areas outside of defense.

The company has come a long way from being a university start-up to becoming the only one in the video mining space that simplifies decision-making for marketers through actionable insights. VM expanded its offerings over time, both by providing custom research for CPG clients and by enhancing the delivery of insights through the development of a cloud-based SaaS platform which enables year-round tracking of in-store shopper behavior.
