VideoMining Files Patent on Building Consumer Decision Trees from In-store Behavioral Data

State College, PA - August 14, 2009

VideoMining Corporation announced the filing of a new patent for building Consumer Decision Trees (CDT) based on in-store behavioral data.

Unlike traditional methods for building CDTs, the new methodology utilizes data on the actual behavior of shoppers as they make purchase decisions in-store. Such behavioral data is captured by VideoMining’s breakthrough in-store measurement technology that automatically converts video into precise, statistical data on the shopping process. By combining behavioral data with other sources, like transaction data and in-store intercepts, the CDT provides powerful information on the hierarchical decision process of shoppers.

“This new approach provides what every marketer wants: a reliable view of the decision process of shoppers,” said Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Founder & CEO of VideoMining. “A granular understanding of the purchase decisions enhances the ability of brand marketers to meet the changing needs of shoppers and to optimize their shopper marketing strategies.”

VideoMining has already successfully employed this new methodology for several major consumer packaged goods companies. The filing of this patent enhances VideoMining’s portfolio of over 50 patents related to in-store measurement and advanced shopper analytics.
